First we'll spend 3.5 hours discussing the big trout concepts while looking at numerous spots on google earth. We will use these spots to discuss the concepts of where big trout seek out (material that is NOT covered in the highly regarded Big Trout DVD nor on the internet or even other fishing programs). This course will be one on one course in person.. more on this later later).

These are NOT random or generic tips but very SPECIFIC DETAILS that will allow you to find hundreds of big trout spots in any bay doing what the top tournament anglers and big trout guides do. This is not information that is on the internet anywhere.

Captain Tobin Strickland has coached anglers on this from Port Isabel to the Florida Panhandle and it works.

Ongoing Lifetime Coaching

This is ongoing coaching until you are successful at applying the concepts and are catching big trout over 27” to your hearts content. Even then, you’ll still be welcome to ask questions and get real answers.

After the course, you can ask questions if a spot you fish is or isn't a big trout spot and I"ll tell you why or why not, and give you suggestions of big trout spots nearby and why they ARE.

Choose ANY Bay. The Concepts for catching big trout work in all bays, not just Port Mansfield or Baffin.

We'll talk about timing, as well as tide heights as those two elements are super important, and what to do when the water is 'out' on super low tides or its not pre frontal etc.

Post front and low tide is harder but if the right adjustments are made, big trout can be caught on those conditions and that technology is covered in the course and will continued to be covered in Lifetime Coaching.

After the training you can contact Captain Tobin at any time and ask if a spot is or isn't a big trout spot. and if the timing or conditions are right for the conditions for your fishing trip.

Even get pre tournament guidance before you 'prefish'for your tournaments.

I want to be clear here: I’m a big fan of other guides. I have nothing against them, BUT, they have no interest in teaching you how to find these Big Trout on your own.

Also, a person might get to hit about 2-3 spots with a guide in a good day of Big Trout fishing. Maybe 6-7 on a bad day. You’re part, if you split it, was … $175-$250. How many times will you go with them in order to learn the methods of finding them until you understand it? What other cost of lodging and travel are you also spending?

Even if you split the trip with buddies you’re each paying roughly $500-$800 per trip… to visit 2-7 spots… with NO Understanding of WHY there, WHY there that Day, on those conditions, during that time of year… NONE!

AFTER the course, I highly recommend going with some key big trout guides and I have nothing against the big trout guides or any guides, and this is part of the learning curve, and if you're observant while fishing with them you'll get reinforcement from those trips. But you don't have to in order for it to work, I have several guys that pulled it off without going with guides after their course.

Course Logistics

The 3.5 hr sit down course portion is One on One in person in Texas. Last year I had a scare and it made me realize how easy even a zoom meeting could be ripped off and this information is extremely sensitive and NO ONE is teaching it.

We can figure out a meeting place based on where we both live (if in Texas). Or you can piggy back it with a guided trip with me, you can even stay here on-site and do the course here in my office. We’ll do your course and then we’ll visit actual spots I discussed in the training (If electing to book a guided trip) with me. Those that are in other states will have to travel here to Texas, but the benefit is they will get the opportunity to fish our Famed Baffin Bay or Port Mansfield with me while they are here.

Still Not Sure these Methods are Earth Shattering?

We constantly break myths about all inshore fishing species, that includes Big Trout fishing. We do have summer patterns for big trout and while the internet tells you it’s about cold water in Late December, our cooler months begin late September with an uptick towards mid October.. we don't have to wait for water to get 58 degrees .. that's BS.

I'll cover all myths in the training, but the focus of the training is WHERE and WHY! Broken down into the concept... cool thing is you can find 1000's of big trout spots up and down the Gulf Coast with what I teach. I even still frequently find new ones... and I will tell you that there's a very high % of catching a big trout on your first time to that new spot you've mapped out.

Not Eye Opening Enough?

One of the members of the group put his dad on this 6lb trout in AUGUST in the mid Coast Area. This was a first time fishing this spot as well.

And Finally, as you know in 2024 I ranked 3rd in Texas in the Speckled Truth Heavy Hitters tournament. The listing below is the heaviest 10 fish. I caught about 30 trout over 5lbs fishing here or there when I could, and I didn't fish everyday like guides.. hell I didn't even fish until after march due to a home purchase and move. With the technology I teach, you can catch a big trout about every other or every third trip out. NOT HOPE to catch ONE each year. Currently I’m batting about .500 catching a big trout every other trip when targeting big trout. And you’ll notice I came in third behind two of Texas Top Big Trout Guides.

How often are you catching big trout?

I had two days where I caught 4 trout 6lbs or larger, and actually lost 2 more and had another bite.... So you see, they don’t have to be 1 Big trout every three years.. That ONE day I could have caught SIX.

What do How is this different from what is talked about on podcast or other teaching groups?

Other groups and social media only talk about limited 1 dimensional methods that don’t really give you the whole story of finding all the big trout spots as well as catching more than 1 per year. Our method teaches you the concepts of WHY our spots work, and show you many just like it as well as showing you those that DON’T look like it. For example- a marsh drain is a great place to catch a big trout. But WHERE in the drain? In the big trout coaching program we will get specific as to where in that drain you need to be and show you all the other patterns and places that work as well. It’s in the details and we get deep into the details.

How do I know I’m not getting ‘taken’? It’s Big Trout Right? Not Catfish? Right??

All you have to do is look at the results. All the photos are 100% actual program participants. In a rare case I may be willing to allow someone to reach out to one of the participants after clearing it with them due to privacy requirements.

What if I change my mind before taking the course?

The deposit is to ‘put your hat over the fence’ so to speak. We have no interest in keeping someone money if you decide to not take the course. We may ask you questions to fully understand your change of mind or situation, but we understand life happens. Full payment will happen (in most instances) at the beginning of the course. There are no refunds after the course starts. You will get full support for as long as you request it and it’s our intention to make sure you are successful at it and happy with your choice and results. You may take longer than other anglers. Several anglers have gone out and caught a big trout on 1st trip out. Others have taken 3 years… We will continue to support you as long as you don’t give up on yourself and quit reaching out to us.

What is the *(astric) for related to the inclusion of the Big Trout DVD and remaining in Club Texas?

You will have access to the Big Trout Coaching Group and the Big Trout DVD as long as you continue to pay for the annual subscription to Club Texas. There are no other requirements, you don’t have to interact with Club Texas, just continue to pay the $120 per year and you get the access to Capt Tobin, the big trout DVD, and the Community of Big Trout Anglers. There is benefit remaining engaged in Club Texas as the fundamentals of trout fishing and conditions such as tide timing, tide height, and seasonal focus is still important.

Are there group outings?

There have been in the past and the group is encouraged to go together when possible

Are on the water training trips included?

No, but there is a Club Texas member discount for guided trips. Only those enrolled in Big Trout Coaching Group will receive coaching during on the water guided trips.
